MCP and Model Context Protocol
The Model Context Protocol, from the beginner explanation through to building and operating servers. These pages cover what MCP actually standardises, how clients such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Cline connect, how to write and host a server, how to secure one, and which servers are worth adding to a working setup. Fast.io runs a remote MCP server at https://mcp.fast.io/mcp, so client configuration here carries a URL rather than a command, and authenticated setups use the key endpoint.
The material splits by intent. If you are working out what MCP is, start with the explainers. If you are adding servers to a setup that already works, start with the directories. If you are writing one, start with the build and security pages. All of them assume the client does the connecting, which is why configuration lives with the client rather than with the server.
